"Friends and family, a lot can change in a couple days... this picture was taken a few days ago while at home being goofy. Since then, we’ve learned Alex has leukemia (ALL). The good news is that it’s the best kind to have - most treatable, best prognosis. There’s no cancer in his chest, brain or bone marrow. The bad news is, well, cancer. He’s a tough guy, we will get through this, but we have a long road ahead. Aaron, Sam and I are going to need a lot of support to help him through this. There are still lots of questions, but we know we start today. He’s currently in surgery getting his port put in. He’s not tolerating the hospital well at all. The lack of independence and control, the restriction of being tethered to machines, the constant attention from (amazing) doctors and nurses are all too much for him to take. Hopefully, he gets adjusted to the new normal. Once we know how he’s tolerating the medication, we could go home as soon as 8 days and be outpatient for the majority of the treatment. We are in the best place, with the best doctors. We are blessed to have so much family and friends close by. Thank you for the love and support already pouring in. Will do our best to update when possible. " Cari (FB post)
The uncertainty of having a sick child and needing to miss or possibly stop working is very stressful. They may also have added childcare costs for Sam and many other financial unknowns. Let's help ease some of the Inserra Family's burdens with your most generous donations. They have done the same for so many of us and I know that they will be very grateful for any help you can give.
