We are seeking help from our community of family, friends and compassionate well-wishers to assist our dearest friends Colin and Lisa Lecesne (née Lyn), and specifically our goddaughter Isabel who is facing a serious health crisis.  Isabel is in dire need of surgery to remove a Pineal Gland Cyst in her brain.

Isabel is 14 years old and a 9th Grade high school student. Isabel is extremely special to us. Before they started kindergarten, I (Massia) home-schooled Isabel for one year along with my two younger girls when she was 3-4 years old. From then we've developed a unique bond as a family, a special bond that has endured ever since. She is positive, respectful, kind, warm, keenly socially aware and really the sweetest young lady you'll ever meet!

Three years ago, she started experiencing severe migraine headaches. At that time, she was studying ardently for our national high stakes secondary school entrance exams (GSAT). Our strong, brave and focused Isabel persevered through her pain, convincingly securing a place at Campion College in Jamaica, one of the Caribbean’s highest performing secondary schools. She immediately established herself as an honour student and talented visual artist.

Sadly, within the last year, the severity and frequency of the headaches increased, and she began to suffer from some new and alarming symptoms - memory loss, episodes of vision disturbance combined with hearing loss/ tinnitus (ringing in the ears), dizziness and insomnia. Headaches had become a daily part of her life and medication did not provide significant relief. The severity of her condition has now prevented her from consistently attending school and taking exams. Additionally, this sociable, warm, outgoing girl is often unable to participate in certain physical and social activities with her peers.

An MRI showed a cyst on the pineal gland of her brain. Her parents decided to travel from Jamaica to Texas for her to see a specialist, Dr. Dong Kim Director of the Mischer Neuroscience Institute at Memorial Hermann and head of the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.  After consultation with Dr. Kim she was diagnosed with a Symptomatic Pineal Gland Cyst. Dr. Kim recommended surgery to remove the cyst. He stated that surgery would be critical for her to regain her health and give her the best opportunity to achieve her fullest potential.

After months of investigations we are grateful for an answer and a solution. Here is where we need your help: even after securing a considerable discount, the cost of the surgery and related expenses are still overwhelming for her parents. Our goal is to help them raise US $70,000 for the surgery and related expenses. The surgery has been booked tentatively for the 5th of February 2020. We would be grateful if you could help wherever possible, through your prayers, financial contributions and assistance in spreading the word. Collectively we can get Isabel restored to full health and her path of excellence and achievement in all aspects of her life. Thank you for your generosity. We are eternally grateful.

Sincerely,
Mark and Massia Bailey
