Insulin Pump for Helen

Our sister Helen has struggled with Type 1 diabetes since she was 5 years old. When she was 12 years old,she was able to begin using an insulin pump instead of regular injections to control her blood glucose levels. This has served her well for 11 years, and she was able to enjoy a normal life.In the past year, she met Kaleb, and moved from her home with her missionary parents in Romania, back to the United States to be with Kaleb. On May 5th, they were married.

On the day of the wedding, Helen's insulin pump stopped working, and her blood glucose levels have been impossible to regulate without it. Kaleb's insurance takes effect on July1/19 but will not cover the cost of this pump.

Before the pump failure, Helen and Kaleb were set to go on their road trip honeymoon. However, Helen's illness has caused their love story to take an unfortunate twist.  We are very concerned that our beautiful sister will be unable to enjoy this new chapter of her life.

Insulin pumps deliver insulin in a very calculated way, and allow for well controlled and stable blood glucose levels that are very hard to achieve with traditional injections. A new insulin pump cost $ 8,000. Without the pump Helen needs hourly monitoring and injections, yet her blood glucose levels continue to be impossible to regulate. We are desperately trying to keep our beautiful sister out of the hospital. Please, help us raise the money necessary to buy this insulin pump.
