Intact 30 For 30
Donation protected
To mark Intact's 30th year of business, we want to try to raise €30,000 for the communities we are in and support local charities.
The goal is simple: We want as many of our Intacters as possible to pull together and spread the word to raise €30,000 for several deserving charities in our communities.
What Are We Doing?
To start the campaign, we are holding a Walk/Run/Bike/Swim/Row event: We are asking staffers to walk/run/bike (someone even wants to row) 100km in 31 days in October. For those who struggle to do 100km, we offer the option of doing 30 miles (roughly 50km) in 31 days.
We will be out in our Intact T-shirts in the dark October month to try and clock up the miles and raise awareness and funds for good causes. As well as that, our incredible staffers also have other events lined up, such as selling crafts, and more, to continue raising funds past the October walk/run event to help get us to our goal.
What Will the Funds Be Used For?
Earlier in the year, we reached out to our staff to see which charities we should fundraise for. The charities they chose were as follows:
United Kingdom
- Mental Health: Mind
- Cancer Care: Macmillan Cancer Support
- Children's health services: NSPCC
- Hospices/Parkinson's/Alzheimer's disease: The Hospice of St Francis Berkhamsted
Ireland
- Mental Health: SOSAD (Save Our Sons and Daughters)
- Cancer Care: Gary Kelly Cancer Centre
- Children's health services: Make-A-Wish
- Hospices/Parkinson's/Alzheimer's disease: The Birches Alzheimer Day Centre
Everyone on our Intact team has been impacted by one of the above: Whether it's mental health issues, cancer, a sick child, or someone suffering from Parkinson's/Alzheimer's, we are all aware of the devastating effects each illness carries.
Some of us have also seen the fantastic work some organisations do to help people with cancer, mental health issues, Parkinson's/Alzheimer's, or treat sick kids. Some of those efforts can be life-changing. But behind that incredible work is increased demand for their services and soaring costs. Costs that sometimes are not covered by government funding.
The €30,000 we raise will help these organisations continue the amazing work they do daily for the people in our communities.
How Are We Connected to the Cause? Why Is It Important?
Intact is 30 years old in 2022. In the past three decades, we, along with our families and friends have relied on these services. As such, we want to use the 30th anniversary to give back to our communities.
We know that funds are tight for everyone. And that now is not the ideal time to be fundraising. We also understand that asking for donations in the current climate is a tough thing to do. But every cent (such as giving up a cup of coffee and instead donating the price of one) goes a long way to providing help and care for someone desperately in need. Therefore, we believe the effort is worth it.
When we asked our Intacters about possible charity partners, we received more than 100 testimonials about which charities we should use, including the following:
"We lost my mother-in-law to cancer. The support the local cancer care team gave her during her illness has been great, but the help they gave my wife, son and father-in-law was incredible. "
"My mum is now in her 7th-year remission from Lymphoma cancer. Without the cancer care she received, she may not have survived."
"My daughter has been in hospital this year. Anything which can be done to make it an easier process on children and parents gets my vote."
"Helping a vulnerable child at the start of their life can be so rewarding and positively impact that child's future."
"I have lost a few friends due to mental health. We don't offer enough support regarding mental health, but if more people partner/donate to mental health charities, the additional funds will allow the professionals to continue helping people desperately crying out for help."
"Many people we interact with daily suffer from mental health issues. More recognition, discussions, and treatments are required."
"My mum passed away a couple of years ago of early onset Alzheimer's Disease. I was her main carer while looking after my family and doing my job. It was the hardest time of my life. Not only would I like to help to find a cure to this awful disease, but I would also like to help support other people who have had to go through what I have."
It's testimonies like those, and about 100 others, why we believe we should try to help charities in need.
