Intensive Therapy for Maverick

Dear friends + family,

Most are not aware of our little Maverick’s medical history. He was born premature at 34 weeks due to preeclampsia. We expected a short NICU stay. He was released after almost two months. During his stay many tests including an MRI were given. These tests led to a diagnosis of Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) as well as a small brain bleed. White matter death was observed on the right side of his brain. His long term prognosis could not be determined. Typically developmental delays up to and including Cerebral Palsy are expected. His Early Intervention therapy began very early. His fine motor skills, gross motor skills and speech are all affected. His gains in these areas are minimal. He requires more intensive therapy.

In our desperate search for further help we have learned that the “Masgutova Neurosensimotor Reflex Integration” MNRI therapy can help him achieve greater developmental success. This therapy focuses on reflexes that begin in utero and are the foundation of brain development. These integrated reflexes help children reach milestones in motor development, communication, and emotional and cognitive skill development. When these primitive reflexes are not able to form and coordinate, normal development cannot be achieved.

Since his devastating diagnosis we now have hope. This intensive therapy will give Mav a fighting chance.

As with many medical treatments insurance does not cover any portion of these services. The cost of the program is prohibitive.
