I'm a 30 year old lady, a self taught visual artist. With the ever increasing number of unemployment in Namibia, I took the initiative to turn my hobby into a career. My soul income being what I generate from selling my art and mostly, creating portraits for individuals and organizations.
I have been exhibiting nation wide in group exhibitions and SME expos. However my initial goal have always been to expose and sell my work Internationaly.
I am honoured to be invited to participate as one of the exhibitors at the Namibian Stand, at the BTL International Tourism Exhibition to take place on the 11-15th March 2020. This auspicious event will be held at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal.
BTL offers capacity building for artists and art organizations. This event is specifically aimed at visual artists or art organizations that wish to enhance their skills or knowledge and at aid organizations that wish to support capacity building amongst artists and art organizations. Projects can be designed according to the policy of a donor organization.
Through their work with African artists, BTL has come to understand some of the challenges that artists face. They endeavour to give African artists access to knowledge and skills, enable them to pursue their careers both locally and on the global art scene
This opportunity will grant me the opportunity to showcase our Namibian culture and heritage, which I am incredibly passionate about, to a wider audience and help me provide for my family. I also wish to covey the importance of arts and culture through this incredible opportunity, so that my fellow artists and aspiring artists may look at my example and be inspired to be global ambassadors of our great country through arts.
