Ngukurr girls visit Melbourne
Donation protected
After a life changing and culturally awakening trip to the remote Indigenous Australian community, Ngukurr in South East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, the MLC girls who took part in this tour are determined to offer the same experience to seven hardworking high school students from the Ngukurr Community Education Centre with whom we worked very closely with during our stay in the community.
After being welcomed so warmly, we immediately fell in love with the people of the community and enjoyed engaging in sporting activities and games, learning about their culture and daily lives, working with the school and most importantly building relationships with the people.
To work towards building positive and effective partnerships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader Australian community, it would be an incredible honour to give seven Year 7 Ngukurr girls the opportunity to visit our community. The girls selected for the trip will be those with the best attendance and behaviour, and in return rewarded with this well-deserved opportunity following their hard work throughout the year.
We aim to have the girls visit from the 15th November so we can spend as much time as we can proudly showing them around Melbourne before the end of the school year.
To fund this trip, any donation would be greatly appreciated and will go towards helping to change the lives of seven girls we are so excited to see again.
This experience will not only educate the Ngukurr girls but also the MLC community, particularly those who haven’t had the opportunity to meet, interact or learn from Indigenous Australians.
