Bill and Michele Dunn flood relief funds
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sana Dunn, on the 17/12/2023 at 9pm the unimaginable happened in Wujal Wujal/Bloomfield. After Tropical cyclone Jasper had hit came the devastating roaring flood, a flood that would change the lives of this community forever. The Bloomfield river broke, trees came down, pets were lost, people were having to retreat to the roof of their homes to escape being washed away. As they watched the water rising and all their cherished belongings be drenched in sludge muddy water or taken away in the currents.
My parents have had a miracle story from these floods, they were in their roof of their house, and the flooding waters were rapidly rising. At 9pm I received a shocking last phone call from my mum stating the water levels were rising and they were heading for the roof of the house with no more phone battery. By 10pm they had climbed onto the roof, and waters had swept them off. In the dark of the night, somehow grabbed onto a tree which then became their safe haven for the night as they sat in the flood waters for 12hrs waiting anxiously for emergency crews to come. My brother and local hero Alec Dunn had come to the rescue the next day as ses and emergency services weren’t allowed to enter the dangerous waters. He went on to rescue another 17 residents and 1 dog that he found in the mangroves after being swept away.
Residents of Wujal Wujal/Bloomfield have had to evacuate, leaving behind memorabilia, sentimental items and all possessions. Tragedy has struck.
Please help us raise as much as we can for the people who have just lost everything. The funds raised will go towards helping the cleanup and the rebuilding of this great community. A small donation of even $10 would help to make a difference. If you are unable to donate please share as we are trying to bring awareness to this disaster.
thank you all!
