iPads for COVID patients to commuicate with family
Donation protected
As some of you may know, my dad has been fighting COVID19. He has been in the ICU on a ventilator for 10 days now. His course has been rocky, and my mom and I have struggled a lot with the fact that we have not been able to be with Dad during his hospital stay. We have found some comfort in using technology to video chat on Dad’s phone that he happened to have in the room. We were lucky to get a great nurse who thought of using that to help us see and speak to him. However, 6 extremely scary days went by in which none of us had any contact with Dad. Or just as importantly, Dad hadn’t heard from us. He must have felt very scared and lonely. Our hearts go out to other families in our same shoes, and especially those who may not have happened to have a phone in the room or a nurse who took the extra step to help them. In order to help other families stay in contact with their loved one that is sick with COVID19, we are donating iPads to St. Clare Hospital. Our goal is to get one for every room in the COVID19 unit, as well as the Intensive Care Unit. These will be used for families to video chat with their sick loved one. Each iPad costs $316 and we are shooting for 25 iPads. We have already made the initial donation. If we get more money than we need, then we will use the extra for an additional donation that will go towards more iPads for the COVID19 rooms at other SSM Health hospitals, as none of their locations have anything like this in place. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for considering a donation in Dad’s name!
P.S. If you would rather mail me a check, that is totally fine as well. Contact me for my mailing address if needed.
