Our dear long time friend Ipolani (Ipo Ferreira) Haina is a wife of 18 plus years & mother to three amazing kids one who is attending college, one in high school, & one in middle school. Her family is her ROCK & her everything.
Ipo was diagnosed with diabetes in 1997, around the age of 21. She has been in & out of the hospital over the years. She’s had episodes of diabetic ketoacidosis frequently.
In 2014 she was diagnosed with gastroparesis. In January 2017 she was diagnosed with end stage renal disease (end stage kidney disease). She now does peritoneal dialysis daily. In 2017 she was also diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy (she’s now blind). She’s had two retina detachment surgeries & one glaucoma surgery. She’s still unable to see.
Not long after all of this she developed a disease called calciphylaxis (the death of skin cells due to too little blood flow to her legs). She’s unable to walk now, has been confined to a wheel chair, and it’s extremely painful.
Ipo has ongoing doctors appointments. One of her treatments is required three times a week for one hour at a time. She often has daily nausea, eats very little, and vomits off & on. She’s on a number of medicines, treatments, and has daily dialysis supplies. Ipo needs 24/7 care and is blessed to have her family, but also needs other help.
Although Hawaii’s their home the Haina Ohana made a family decision to move to Las Vegas, because the kidney transplant wait is shorter there than in Hawaii. Ipo & her Ohana have been hoping to get her on the kidney list this month. She has been in and out of the hospital recently real sick again and unable to eat. We all continue to pray she gets well enough & passes all the test to get on the kidney list soon.
We believe in the power of prayer and if you’re able to please pray for Ipo. If you are also able to donate to help Ipo’s Ohana with her medical bills, medical supplies, medicines, and other expenses, any little bit you can donate helps. They are truly grateful!
