Help Bard Rugby Get to Georgia!

The Bard Women’s Rugby Team was established in 2005 and is approaching its tenth season here in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. We are associated with Bard College, a small liberal arts school in upstate New York. We aren’t known for being a big team, but we are known for our spirit and perseverance. Since 2005, we have grown exponentially, the past two years boasting our first time with a full 15 team and a presence in the Tri-State Conference.
It has not been an easy road. Despite our growth, we have had to forfeit many games and we have struggled to secure a coach. The Athletics Department has put us under review for the remainder of our season, and we worry we won’t have a budget to continue our legacy in the fall. However, we are hopeful and continue to strive toward a large team and have our eyes peeled for new coaches and players.
One of the steps we are taking to legitimize and strengthen our team as well as our image is to compete in tournaments throughout the country this spring. At the top of our list is in Savannah Georgia for a St. Patrick’s Day Tournament that happens during our spring break. Any athlete can tell you how important bonding and camaraderie is to the growth and strength of a team. This presents an incredible opportunity to meet other players, develop our own skills, and have a memorable and meaningful spring break. We have a roster of 16 girls currently who all intend to travel to Georgia and represent Bard proudly. Unfortunately, this comes with a hefty price tag.

With the money we receive from our GoFundMe, we intend to pay for lodging and transportation in and to Georgia. Basically, we need your help to get us there and keep us there! We are so grateful for the opportunity to play the sport we love with the people that we love. Help us have the best spring break of which any rugger would dream!
Love,
The Bard Women’s Rugby Football Club ’15
