Play for Ukraine
Dear Friends,
We are asking for your support to integrate Ukrainian refugees into communities across Ireland.
In the coming days and months more and more Ukrainian children will arrive in Ireland. Many are non-English speakers and will need special help to integrate into Irish society.
We want to support these children when they arrive by helping them to join sports clubs and be part of their new Irish community. To achieve this we are organising Play for Ukraine events as a way for Irish people to say welcome to these new arrivals.
We can all do something:
Clubs and schools can create an event that involves kids mixing through play, be it board games, football, music or dance. The schools and clubs can then publicly invite Ukrainian refugees to play sports with their members with the aim of making the new members of our communities feel welcome in Ireland.
As an individual, you can tell the organisers of your local club or school that this campaign is happening. You could volunteer at the school or club to help them create an enjoyable day out for everyone.
An example of Play for Ukraine:
Chess charity, Moves for Life, are organising a series of Online chess events on Tuesday the 31st of May 2022. Details of these chess events can be found here: http://www.movesforlife.ie/
Donations received from this gofundme campaign will go directly to the Assoc. of Ukrainians in Ireland (AURI). Here are some examples of the work AURI is doing:
(1) AURI have already raised over €740,000 for medical supplies to Ukraine. If you’d like to directly support medical aid click https://www.gofundme.com/f/ireland-medical-help-ukraine .
(2) AURI also works with charity shops, called Palyanytsya. These shops collect much needed blankets and clothes for humanitarian aid. Here’s more information about the Dublin Palyanytsya: https://lovindublin.com/news/dublin-cafe-owner-launches-shop-for-ukranian-refugees .
(3) We are also welcoming any volunteers to support existing projects or create and manage new projects. For more on volunteering visit https://new.ukrainians.ie/volunteering/ .
We cannot express how much any donation, regardless of how big or small, will be appreciated. And AURI will direct all monies raised where they will do the most practical good for Ukrainian refugees and their families.
Thank you for your support,
