Please help Irene fight Advanced Stage IV Ovarian Cancer

Hi, My name is Reenalyn Sehmish and I am fundraising for my sister Irene who was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in December 2022.

She underwent two surgeries and completed four rounds of chemotherapy, all by the following April 2023.

This followed a period of remission and adjustment to living life after chemotherapy, with endeavours to build a new normal and eventual return to work.

Unfortunately, in July 2024, her cancer returned and in August, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Advanced Ovarian Cancer. She began chemotherapy again in September 2024 which unfortunately didn’t have the desired effects.

After a month rest from treatment to allow Irene to regain some strength she is now starting a new treatment regime this week as she awaits a Clinical Trial. This treatment involves taking daily tablets and receiving fortnightly Chemo. She will then have a progress scan in 6-8 weeks.

Unfortunately, the tablets she needs to take are not currently on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Because of this Irene and John will have to pay out of pocket in order to receive this medication.

As you can imagine, this medication is quite expensive, and this will place a heavy financial burden on Irene and John and their young family. I am organising this fundraiser to help Irene to have access to this medication for as long she might need it.
