Irish Artists for Palestine - Red Crescent
Irish Artists for Palestine are raising funds to aid the people of Palestine by hosting a gig in the Olympia Theatre on Tuesday 28th November 2023 (see image below for the line up) and by running this fundraising page.
Donations go to the Red Crescent who are working on the ground in Palestine, providing emergency aid to the Palestinian people suffering under continued Israeli bombardment. Funds go directly to the Irish Red Cross Urgent Appeal for the Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza from the GoFundMe platform and are then funneled to the Red Crescent in Palestine. Support today and help save lives.
UPDATE! Palestinian Beatboxer, MC & DJ, Abood Aladham will also perform on the night!
Who we are:
As Irish Artists for Palestine, we stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people through a week- long festival of music and the arts (November 28th to December 3rd, 2023). We invite participation and engagement from across the arts community to do what we do best: reflect the sentiment of our communities and extend a powerful message of solidarity to Palestine. Artistic expression creates spaces through which we can connect and forge personal and collective identities, deepening our resolve and resilience in the face of systemic violence and injustice. We believe that art plays a crucial role in connecting the public with the lived experiences of Palestinians, and has the power to sway hearts and to open minds.
In response to a call to action from Palestinian artists, we work to amplify the voices of the Palestinian arts community. Irish Artists for Palestine will create spaces where support for the Palestinian freedom movement can be expressed through our collective voices and creativity. Irish Artists for Palestine is a grass-roots coalition of artists across all mediums and we welcome participation from all.
More information about the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies:
The IFRC acts before, during and after disasters and health emergencies to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people.
Their vision is to be a leading humanitarian organisation, providing impartial services and support to vulnerable people and communities. The devastation and escalation of hostilities in Gaza are taking a deadly toll on thousands of men, women, and children throughout the region. The humanitarian need in Gaza is immense and growing by the hour. Your support will enable the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement efforts to provide food, shelter, water, and medical aid to those in urgent need.

The significance of the watermelon logo:
The mighty watermelon is a Palestinian symbol of creative resistance. It first emerged in 1967 when the Israeli government declared public displays of the Palestinian flag a criminal offence. To circumnavigate the ban, people began depicting sliced watermelon because it bears the national colours of the Palestinian flag: red, black, white and green.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
