Irish Parkinsons Golf Team - 4 Nations
Donation protected
Hi, The Irish Parkinson's Golf Team compete in the Annual Sport Parkinsons 4 Nations Golf Tournament which happens at the world famous Belfry Golf Club in England, on 11&12th October 2022.
Our 10 team members all have Parkinson's Disease (PD) and we need funding support to play in the 4 Nations event , details on how to support us are below.
Many people with a Parkinsons diagnosis find it hard to continue participating in sports /hobbies/activities as the disease progresses, our message is that PD shouldn't discourage people from playing sports / being active and just because your physical strengths diminish doesn't mean you can't have a very enjoyable and continued relationship with sport and/or other activities, and our group are a great example of that.
We very much want to communicate that a Parkinsons diagnosis isn't the end of the world, and can be tackled with positivity and also that support exists and that by using certain coping mechanisms, and having the support of family & friends, life with PD is more than manageable. Many people treat a PD diagnosis as a Death Sentence when it just isn't, yes, it's progressively debilitating, but with adjustments life can continue to be very rewarding and in some ways improve
We would love to promote our positive story far and wide, to the many people who have friends or relatives that have Parkinson's, and encourage people with PD to fight the challenges of the disease to make it a part of a rewarding and full-some life.
To that end, we do have to raise a small amount of sponsorship / funding for our event. So we are asking you to part-fund our participation in the Sports Parkinsons 4 Nations Golf Tournament. We need to raise funding of €11,000 for participation and an additional €7.5k for corporate sponsorship for the Irish team.
Any funding/support received over our threshold of c €18.5k would go directly to Parkinson's Association of Ireland .
