Irish Senior Women's Volleyball Fundraiser
Please support the National Women's Volleyball Squad and our goal of competing abroad. Although still a minority sport in Ireland, volleyball is the fifth most popular sport worldwide. Your support will help us inspire future generations and help make that dream come true!
We are heading to the European Small Countries Championships hosted this year by Luxembourg. We last visited Luxembourg in January, at the invitational Novotel Cup, where our young team competed against top teams of England, Germany, and the hosts. The squad has been dedicated, committed and inspiring in their training over the last year, funding a rigorous campaign of preparation themselves. But now, we need your help.
A team of 14 players, 2 coaches and a physio will fly to Luxembourg and compete from the 26th to the 28th of May. There will be two pools (yet to be confirmed) including teams from Iceland, Malta, Northern Ireland, Scotland and the hosts. The winners will become SCA champions and progress to the next round of the European Championships. We come from Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kildare and further afield. Ten of our squad are under the age of 22, the future is bright for Irish Women’s Volleyball with such great opportunities for our young athletes.
The cost of the trip is in the region of €10,000, €7,000 of which we are fundraising by ourselves. In addition to each player securing a sponsor and the squad hosting a Pub Quiz on May 12th at Roddy Bolands, Rathmines (see entry details on VLY’s IG @volleyballireland and Volleyball Irelands website) – we are looking for additional fundraising support through this GoFundMe campaign. The costs include match jerseys, hotel accommodation, food, flight tickets, and team physio.
Can you help our women live their dream and inspire future generations to represent Ireland in the sport they love?
But that's not all:
If you donate €25 (or a denomination of this i.e €50, €75 etc.) you will be entered into a draw for some fabulous prizes including a €150 Blue Book Voucher!
Keep your eyes peeled for updates on our prizes over the next few weeks.
A donation of €25 = 1 entry, €50 =2 entries, €75 = 3 entries etc. Please make sure you include your name in the donation so we can contact you if you win! The draw will be held on the weekend in Luxembourg- stay tuned for more info!
More about us:
This senior squad was formed in March 2020, with many younger players stepping up to Senior level in the past year since our last SCA competition in Iceland in 2022. We train one weekend a month with the National team, but we are all currently playing in the National League with our clubs locally. We work with our strength and conditioning coach every week and in combination with our specific gym programmes we are seeing great results both on and off the court.
Last year we set out our team vision and goals, we continue to strive in all aspects of our training and preparation to achieve them!

Our goals:
In the next 1-2 years: We form strong bonds on and off the court. We ‘leave it all on the court’, every time. We leave the program in a better place than when we joined it.
In the next 2-5 years: We create the foundation of an elite program that younger players can aspire to, and then continue to raise the level of.
In the next 5-10 years: We are an elite, thriving program. We are on the podium in the second round of the CEV Small Nations Competition.
