IrisVision for Mark "The Shark"
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Noah Schlesinger. As children, both my uncle and father were diagnosed with forms of macular degeneration. For most of their lives, they have been "legally blind", although you would have a hard time noticing due to their resilience and adaptive ability.
Recently, my dad (many of you know him as Mark "The Shark" from the radio) has tested some of the new technology that has been developed for forms of macular degeneration and other diseases that cause the loss of central vision. Today (1/25/18), he tested IrisVision, the first technological device that he seems really excited about and can help with daily activities.
With IrisVision, my dad will be able to recognize the faces of his loved ones, more easily read, watch movies and television, perform tasks on computer screens, appreciate views outside, fully experience live concerts, among other daily activities.
I'm raising $1,250 to cover half of the costs of IrisVision. I'm confident that a grant or other form of payment will be able to cover the other half.
Of course, I don't feel it right simply asking for money without giving something in return. For my friends, family members, and everyone connected to the Pennsylvania Music Scene, my band Greylines will be playing a reunion show this summer as the smallest form of thanks for contributing to this cause. A donation will give you free entry to the show. If live music isn't you thing, and you feel like donating simply out of the goodness of your heart or because you know my dad, that is equally appreciated.
There is not an exact time table for when I hope to achieve this goal. However, my sister is getting married on February 17th, and if my dad is able to have IrisVision for the wedding, that would make the day all that more special.
Thank you in advance to anyone who shares this.
