iron man on the ergs
Donation protected
Myself and Conor Mulkerns are taking on a mighty ‘challenge’ to raise money for two local organisations. Both of these chosen organisations do fantastic work, and year after year have to source funding and rely on donations to help them keep their doors opened. Something we want to help with! We would like to take a little of that worry off their mind during this current pandemic, by raising as much money as we possibly can!
Our two chosen organisations are: iCARE and Whiteoaks. Both organisations work tirelessly and deserve every penny we hope to raise!
The ‘challenge’ takes place at O Flaherty Fitness & Performance on the 31st May, with a 6am start, and hoping to be finished somewhere in and around the 6pm - 8pm mark!A long, tough session!
If the current restrictions are still in place, we will set up the machines the appropriate distance away from each other, abiding by all government guidelines.
If the restrictions are a little looser we plan to open the big shutter door in the gym, and would hope to see as many people as possible call in and see us. This will be the motivation we will need. We will need all the encouragement we can get, to get us through this!!!
So, what is the ‘Challenge’?
It consists of an Iron Man EACH on the ERGs! (Concept 2 machines, including rower, ski and bike)
It will consist of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) ski, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) row!!!!
Not an easy feat!
This is going to be a grueling challenge...12 hours+!!!!
There are so many other fundraisers running at the moment for other brilliant causes, and it’s fantastic to see people are all pulling together at this time.
We are very aware, and understand the uncertainty and unusual times we are currently in. All donations for our two chosen organisations will be greatly appreciated. Every penny will count!
We are also offering some businesses and other organisations the opportunity to get involved if possible, by sponsoring some distances:
5km = €50
10km =€100
Please get in contact if this is something you would be interested in.
Below is a little synopsis of each of the chosen orgnisations. Both of these play a very important role in our community, and have aided many families over the years. They are very worthy of this fundraiser!
This page will be updated regularly, with updates on the funding, training and everything in between!!!
Now..time to get the training done ⛷ ♀️
Thanks,
Oisin
