Ironman Triathlon for The Cameron Bespolka Trust
In less than 3 months time, on Sunday 2nd July, I will be competing in the UK Ironman Triathlon to raise awareness and funding for the Cameron Bespolka Trust.
Cameron was a close friend from school who died on December 17th 2013, aged just sixteen, in a tragic accident. He was a young man full of promise who was prematurely taken from us. He will always be loved, missed and cherished by his family and friends.
From a very early age, he had an extremely strong love of nature. As he grew older, birding became his passion. He loved everything about birds: watching and observing them, photographing them.
He was always looking for ways to be involved in nature and participate in birding activities but often found it hard to find ways for young teenagers to get involved. Many projects and volunteering opportunities were not available till 18 years old. In his memory, the Trust wish to create some new opportunities that are open to teenagers to discover the wonderful world of birds and nature. Your donations, whatever the size, will contribute towards inspiring young people to love and appreciate animals, in particular birds, nature, and our environment. By experiencing the outdoors first-hand, teenagers can connect with nature and make a difference to our planet.
The race consists of a 3.8km open water swim, 180.2km hilly cycle, followed by a full 42.2km marathon. Total distance of 226.3km (140.6 miles).
