Isabel Logan Medical Expenses
Donation protected
As most of you know Halie and Chad just blessed us with another niece! Her name is Isabel and she is perfect! She was born on August 26 and boy will she have a story to tell about her first year on this earth!
Isabel was born with a cleft lip and palate and will have 3 surgeries before she celebrates her first birthday. She was also having trouble with milk getting into her lungs so she had to be admitted back into the hospital had a G-Tube placed surgically.
Chad is police officer and thankfully has insurance that will take care of the cost of surgeries, it is all the extra costs that are starting to add up. Halie is a nurse but will not be able to return to work for some time and is not being paid for her time off. Add in the already stressful 2020 and they have much on their plates. I hate seeing them need to worry about the extra costs on top of everything else right now.
*This is from Halie’s FB announcement*
Clefts effect 1 out of every 700 births. Cleft lip/palate can be caused by many things but in our case we know that it is hereditary. It does effect Isabel’s ability to eat and speak, but we have many wonderful medical professionals that are here to walk us through it all. Isabel will have multiple surgeries during her childhood: right now our surgical plan is to have her lip surgery at 3 months old, her palate surgery at approximately 10 months old, and her gum surgery at 6 years old. These surgeries are not to “fix her” or “make her beautiful”- in our eyes SHE IS PERFECT.
If you’d like to learn more about cleft lip/palate some of the websites we found really helpful were smiletrain, cleftopedia and http://childrensmn.org
Here is a good link for learning more about the G-Tube. https://www.chop.edu/treatments/gastrostomy-tubes![](https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/51106362_1599720806513088_r.jpeg)
