Isabella Support Fund

My name is Michelle Lizardi Rivera. My sister Jennifer Lizardi has recently completed her life journey. She
had a difficult one to say the least. For some of you that may not know, Jen was diagnosed at the age of 15 with Severe Aplastic Anemia. At the time a bone marrow transplant (BMT) was her only hope to survive. Without it doctors had given her only 6 months to live. By God's grace we found out that I was a perfect match and I was honored to donate my marrow to her. On January 13, 1998 our transplant was performed and we became even closer (literally speaking). Unfortunately, 5 days after getting chemo for the BMT she contracted RSV pneumonia and spent two weeks on a ventilator. Due to all the scar tissue and developing GVDH (Graft Versus Host Disease) she developed a lung disease called Bronchiolitis Obliterans. We had hoped she could have been considered for a double lung transplant however her complications prohibited her from being a candidate. So as we faced the fact that her lungs would eventually fail she tried to live a "normal life" as she was constantly in and out of the hospital.
On May 12th 2005, Jennifer gave birth to Isabella Lizardi against doctor predictions that she would not be able to conceive a child after all her complications and invasive treatments. Isabella was a big reason why Jennifer fought to live day in and day out.
Today my sister has completed her battle and is in God's everlasting peace. We will be rallying around Isabella as a family to support her throughout her own life journey and help her become a strong woman that can help make a difference in the world as her mom did so fiercely throughout her life. Since Jennifer was never healthy enough to work a day in her life, she was never able to save for Isabella's education and future.
We are creating this fund so that Isabella may have resources to help her pay for schooling and college. She will also need medical services to overcome the psychological challenges that face her now and in the future. We will also appropriate some of these funds to assist in paying for funeral and memorial services in the coming weeks as we say goodbye to Jen.
We are thankful for all the prayers and support everyone has provided our family and ask that you keep us in your prayers and Jennifer in your memories. We believe in God's Love and Grace and with it we shall never be in need, so if you cannot financially donate, please donate your prayers that Isabella may be blessed with God's favor.
Love,
Michelle Rivera
