Isabel’s Biography and Story
I was raised in Chicago; as I grew I was so inspired by my Grandmother, who always had time for everyone. Her door was always open for her neighbors. They would arrive with worry, or a heavy heart, or even tears, and they would leave smiling and laughing. She had the most wonderful gift for uplifting everyone. She also suffered greatly with severe arthritic pain, and so, at a very young age I had a very strong desire to become a doctor to help my Grandmother, who was so generous with everyone who met her.
After graduating from Maria High School I decided to attend medical school and also to participate as a missionary within a religious order. After completing my medical schooling in Chicago, with fellow colleagues, we formed an interdisciplinary medical group, creating the first Barefoot Doctor School in Chiapas, Mexico. The rural and jungle areas of Mexico were in great need of accessible and affordable medical care, and our group of holistic care specialists were blessed to be able to provide this care for them. This profound experience precipitated my return to Chicago to attend The National College of Naprapathy, from which I graduated in 1985. My yearning to serve the greatest good for those in need of reliable, natural healthcare lead me to the National School of Chiropractic, and I graduated in 1995. Around that same time, I was introduced to Anthroposophic Homeopathic Medicine by Dr. Ross and Dr.Andrea Rentea. Another teacher who influenced me was Dr. Sung Baek, of The School of Eastern Acupuncture. I have been blessed to have great teachers; it is because of them that I have been blessed to serve humanity in the best way I possibly can.
I have 2 very intelligent, beautiful ,wonderful , very caring and loving daughters and 2 amazing, brilliant, loving, caring grandsons. I also have a very dear friend who is my greatest mind/spiritual journey supporter, Andrew Weingart, who has arranged this campaign to help me meet my medical expenses as I treat this cancer diagnosis. His consistent, compassionate and insightful presence expands my inner vision and spiritual connections. Also helping with the campaign are my daughter, Tara Ananda and dear friend, Emily Sat Sukh.
The Diagnosis and Treatment
On December 28, 2018 my doctor stated that my biopsies were positive for malignant stage 4 breast cancer. I will be having bilateral mastectomies on May 7 here in Chicago. Between December of last year and now, I have been in excellent care with physicians of natural medicine and groundbreaking new therapies based on ancient knowledge. Since these highly effective medical therapies and protocols are considered alternative medicine in our western society, most are not covered by insurance.
Due to a severe car accident in 2015, I had to close my Naprapathic clinic. I have exhausted my savings and am unable to afford the cost of treatments that my medical insurance does not cover.
A Note From Andrew, Tara & Emily:

What does that mean? [Glossary of Terms]
Naprapathy: Derived from osteopathy and chiropractic medicine, naprapathic medicine is a holistic approach to wellness that focuses on connective tissue disorders. Damaged connective tissue, including muscles, tendons and ligaments, can cause pain to slowly build and spread throughout the body.
Anthroposophic ( Anthroposophy): is a human oriented spiritual philosophy that reflects and speaks to the basic deep spiritual questions of humanity, to our basic artistic needs, to the need to relate to the world out of a scientific attitude of mind, and to the need to develop a relation to the world in complete freedom and based on completely individual judgments and decisions.
Homeopathic Medicine: Homeopathy is based on the theory of treating like with like. To treat an illness, a homeopathic therapist (homeopath) uses tiny doses of a substance that in large doses would actually cause the symptoms of the illness.Homeopathic remedies are made from plant, mineral and animal substances. They are diluted in water and shaken until there is little, of the original substance left. The original substance leaves a molecular blueprint in the water that triggers your body's healing mechanisms. Homeopaths use the water to make drops, pills or creams.
Barefoot Doctor: The term barefoot doctors was first used in the Chiangchen People's Commune on the outskirts of Shanghai when a mobile service team formed by urban medical workers began to provide medical services in rural areas in 1965. They trained some young peasants to function as ''barefoot doctors.'' Barefoot doctors are now reaching almost every village, and currently they are the backbone of the rural cooperative medical service. This ''barefoot doctor'' service is operated by the peasants on a collective and mutual aid basis.
