Isle of Wight - island games athletes
Donation protected
This is me competing in the Island Games for the Isle of Wight in 1993. Once every two years, thousands of athletes from islands across the globe — from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean, the North Atlantic to the Caribbean — come together to compete in this competition, and I have been selected to compete in 2023. This will be 30 years since my first time at the Games, with the opening ceremony falling on my 50th birthday – both of which I never could have envisaged back then as a naive young whippersnapper! There are no veteran categories so I’ve been selected alongside and will be competing against the young guns - I’ll definitely be putting in the hard training
The 2023 Island Games take place in Guernsey and the IOW is taking 29 athletes, many of whom may go on to become high level athletes. For me it will be a swansong as a proud and poignant final chance to represent my wonderful island of birth.
All of this costs a lot of money and as athletes we have been asked to fundraise to help with costs. I am an experienced running and fitness coach and to raise funds I am looking to offer my services in return for donations towards this memorable event.
So, if you need a fitness plan, help with nutrition, advice on an injury or a training plan to run a 10k/half-marathon/marathon etc please do message me and I will do my best to help you. In return I will ask you to contribute what you feel my help has been worth to you. I will then pass this money onto the IOW Athletic Games Trust fund.
Alternatively some may wish to simply donate.
Thanks for reading.
