Israel & Brook Wayne Family Home-Health Crisis

Israel Wayne is one of the most beloved speakers in the homeschooling world and beyond. He and his wife, Brook, have faithfully served our movement for many, many years.
It is my sincere belief (and I don’t come to conclusions like this quickly) that Israel and Brook are undergoing a sustained spiritual attack. It is time for our community to rally around them in two specific and vital ways—a commitment to prayer and the provision of practical support.
Let me first explain why I believe they are under an unusual spiritual attack.
At the very time our nation needed good, sound advice about homeschooling because of COVID, the ability to host homeschooling conferences has been severely curtailed.
Not only does this deprive people of a needed opportunity for education and encouragement, it hampers the ability of many families—including Israel’s family—to make a living.
On top of this, there have been a series—a seemingly endless series—of attacks on the health and the home of the Wayne family.
They have four children that have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Their cases were severe. As the former chairman of the Virginia Governor’s Task Force on Lyme Disease, I can validate the difficulty of diagnosis, and the devastating nature of the disease.
Medical care is expensive and rarely fully covered by insurance or sharing programs.
In addition, their 19-year-old daughter was diagnosed with extreme mold toxicity. She was advised by doctors to move from the family home. Their other family members are awaiting future testing and may have similar issues.
This takes us to the attacks on their home.
Mold has been discovered in their home in multiple locations and the costs of remediation and repair appear to not be adequately covered by insurance.
They have to repair and remediate their crawlspace, bathrooms, their kitchen and more. The estimates for all of this comes to $68,211.
Then a tree fell on their house. Estimated repair cost. $3000.
Then in the space of a few days, their washer, dryer, freezer, and dishwasher all stopped working. Estimated cost of repair and replacement: $1500
Then Brook was out with some of the children shopping and their van’s transmission went out. Estimated repair costs $3700.
There’s more. But you get the idea.
All of us experience these kinds of things from time to time. But the deluge of all of these things at once is pretty clearly no coincidence. This is spiritual warfare against one of our most valuable voices of spiritual insight and growth.
I respectfully suggest that it is our duty to step into the breach for our friends.
I want to ask you to do two things. First, I want you to commit to pray for Israel, Brook, and their family. We need to have hundreds and hundreds of you joining us in prayer.
Second, I have established a Go Fund Me account for the Israel Wayne family. The goal is to raise at least $76,411. But they could clearly use more to replace some of the lost income from the COVID shut-downs.
I urge you to join my wife and I in giving to this account.
If Israel has blessed your life with his teaching, I would strongly implore you to join me in both of these efforts to support our brother and sister and their family.
Please stand with them with prayer and generosity.
Blessings,
Mike Farris
