It Takes a Village, help us compete in Anaheim, CA

Northern New Mexico is known for its vast landscapes and beautiful sceneries, rich traditional cultures and family-oriented communities. A total of 65% of Coronado Middle and High School's population from Gallina, New Mexico and surrounding communities have qualified to compete at the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California on April 25-30, 2023.

Due to the remoteness and isolation of the district, economic opportunities are limited and the lack of jobs has led to a dwindled population. A lack of businesses and employment opportunities within the communities has created hardships for the families in the communities requiring many families to commute more than 160 miles roundtrip for jobs. This has left the students with the huge challenge of raising $80,000 (for registration, airfare, lodging and meals) $1843 per student.

Since our school is located in such a rural area students are very limited when it comes to educational opportunities but are fortunate to have this organization.
Business Professionals of America (BPA) is the Nation's leading Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) student-led, co-curricular organization that focuses on building leadership skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, while providing opportunities for competition and service to our community. This professional organization has been a perfect pathway for our students to grow as individuals while becoming more involved in community service learning projects and competitive events. Our students have taken the lead in hosting blood drives and assisting with community food drives, and book and pajama drives. Our Students have been successful in the Work Skills Assessment Program (WSAP) Competitive Events Program where the goal is to provide all students the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills learned through Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communication and Design, Management, Marketing & Communication and Health Administration. Each competitive event prepares our students to become lifelong learners and part of an effective, skilled national workforce.

These students have successfully competed at Regional and State levels and have qualified to compete at the National level.

It takes a village to raise a child, help us come together to support these students so they will have the opportunity to compete and represent their small communities around Gallina, New Mexico at the National level!
