It Ain't Brain Surgery-okay, it is.

Ever heard of DBS? It stands for Deep Brain Stimulation. Sounds kinda nice huh? Like a deep tissue massage only for the BRAIN! Well my sister Sarah is about to go under the knife to do just that. It’s not exactly an elective surgery see, cause she has Parkinson’s disease and this DBS really does a lot to slow down that nasty critter.

Now I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention to the news, but recently our president discovered that health care in this country is “really complicated”. It’s also really %$#@ing expensive. So here’s the deal. Even though Sarah is pretty lucky because she worked for Starbucks in the corporate offices and they do a good job with benefits, she recently had to go on disability because Parkinson’s doesn’t care who you work for. And even though her benefits are still kicking in, at least for now, she’s gonna be left holding the bag on a certain percentage of the cost of this really hi-tech operation which is, did I mention, BRAIN SURGERY?

So here’s where I’m hoping we all can come in. If we pool our resources, chip in what we can, I bet we can smooth the way for Sarah.
