Its All About the Dogs

Shelley Hooper is a dog trainer and doggie daycare provider who has fallen on hard times.

In the past, Shelley picked up and transported her doggie clients to her small farm in Wawieg, New Brunswick. Shelley bought the modest farm for the land, so her clients would be safe off-leash. The farm also allows the dogs to romp and play with their friends. Buying the farm was not a thought for Shelley, even though the property is 30 min from her southwestern New Brunswick home because, for her, it is all about the dogs!

Her business is not only canine fun and games! Shelley is also an experienced dog trainer and believes a well-mannered, correctly socialized dog is a balanced and happy animal. Shelley is always glad to help her human and canine friends in any way she can, often with no charge on her own time if needed.

 

Shelley prides herself on making her services affordable for everyone in the community and has fallen on some hard times due to Covid restrictions and closures over the last two years. Now her van that she uses to transport her clients to the farm has broken down and cannot be certified for the road. As a result, Shelley has absorbed a substantial financial loss and could not qualify for any of the Covid funding.

 

No van means no business, and the dogs suffer too! Shelley provides an invaluable service for many community members, the elderly, the shift worker, and travelers- a healthy training and socializing environment for our canine family. Shelley is always there to help care for the community's pets.

 

I am asking the community to help replace Shelley's van. We want to find her a newer and safer vehicle and equip the van with a set of studded tires for the icy New Brunswick roads. Will you help? Any donation will be appreciated, and if you cannot help financially, please share her story. Please help Shelley and her canine friends get back to the farm for their runs and walks where they are happiest.
