Kyle's MS in Applied Economics

Donation protected
Hello,

I am currently attempting to study the entire M.S. in Applied Economics with an emphasis in International Trade and Development from John Hopkins University via self-study. I have the course syllabi available for free download on their website and am gathering exams by emailing professors. So far, everything is coming together well as I prepare to start.

However, with over US$70,000 in student loan debt from my previous graduate degree in education, purchasing the required textbooks for this challenge is a bit of a financial stretch. I would love help in raising the necessary funds which I've calculated by looking at the cost of every textbook on Amazon and choosing the cheaper available option.

Even with using e-book versions of the textbook that are often dramatically discounted from the physical copies, the cost is still nearly $2,000. This will be the entire cost (other than my time and energy) of the 10  course master's program.

I hope to study the courses and take the exams at a rate of about one course every two weeks and finish six months after my start date.

This project is not to earn an actual master's degree, as I already have one and currently work full time. Instead, it is to help me understand a topic better which I have a BA in from undergraduate study, so that I can both teach my high school economics courses better and show others that you can, in fact, study topics at the graduate level without the support of an entire institution. This project is a small attempt on my part to help change the way people think about education and what can be accomplished independently.
