Hawaii has lost one of its finest sons.
Longtime entertainer and Hawaiian food restaurateur Iva Kinimaka died Tuesday morning.
During the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, Kinimaka was a headliner in Waikiki, entertaining visitors and locals at the Royal Lanai, Duke’s and the Hilton Hawaiian Village. He composed the popular ‘He Aloha Mele’ written for his daughter Dr. Chamonix Kinimaka. (Hear the song at the bottom of this page)
After his show business career, Kinimaka turned to the culinary and restaurant industry where he became known as one of Hawaii finest Hawaiian food chefs.
His restaurants and catering businesses were extremely popular with families – serving great Hawaiian food at weddings, first birthday luaus and graduation parties.
One of his most famous dishes was a mix of poke, lomi lomi salmon, limu, and kukui nut topped off with opihi.
Iva Kinimaka was 76 years old.

The funds raised from this Go Fund Me Account will go towards Iva’s medical expenses, the costs of children’s logistics to be by his side, and now towards his funeral & celebration of life expenses.

Thank you for all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers.

May Iva's passing be a reminder to all how precious life is and to treat each other with kindness, integrity, and Aloha. #livelaughaloha
