Ivan’s Boots Scholarship Fund

In the fall of 2022, eighteen-year-old Ivan Ermenc was looking forward to his future, and was excited about wearing the new safety boots he'd just acquired for his new career.

He was making plans to establish himself, get an apartment, and move forward in life.

On November 2nd, 2022, the unthinkable happened: a tragic traffic accident changed everything, and our family is now forced to live with Ivan's memory instead of having him here with us.

We can't turn back this terrible tragedy and we can't change what happened, but we can honor his dream by keeping it alive through helping others.

Because Ivan didn't get the chance to fulfill his career goals, in his honor, we want to help others to fulfill their career goals.

We've established the "Ivan's Boots" scholarship fund at Alvin Community College, and wish to offer as many scholarships as possible each semester.

Each $250 scholarship will provide a pair of safety boots (or other safety equipment as necessary).

Eligible applicants may be enrolled in any year, of any of the qualifying programs of study. Applicants may also include those who are returning to the work force for a career change, or incarcerated students (so that when they are released they can immediately go into the workforce and change their lives).

In honor of Ivan’s birthday on August 6th, we’re raising funds for the inaugural semester for Ivan’s Boots scholarship fund. A quality pair of safety boots costs around $250. Of course you can donate the full amount for a pair of boots OR you can donate any amount toward a pair of boots. Any amount will be greatly appreciated, and you will be making a direct difference in the life of someone in our community.
