Helping Ivan’s Journey through Kidney Failure

Dear Family, Friends, and Loving Community,

My name is Maudie and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my 20yr old son, Ivan.

My son is in end stage kidney failure and we’ve been rushed to UCSF for a week where Ivan will go under surgery for dialysis. We’ve been informed that he cannot receive a kidney transplant (the only hope we’ve had for his future) due to another very rare medical diagnosis. 

At such a young age, with his whole life ahead of him to hear that the remainder of your life will be on dialysis is devastating. Ivan loves to workout in the gym daily, weightlifting is his passion! He had recently also joined his college football team. Unfortunately, those dreams are no longer doable (We believe anything is possible and will not give up hope!) Ivan has worked for many years helping to protect our community as a security guard but unfortunately he will no longer be able to work in that field or for a temporary period of time with this life changing situation he will need to move to be closer with family (He was so excited as he just launched into adulthood & signed lease to his own apartment.) These funds we raise will be for Ivan to help get him by while he relocates, seeks a new job that he is able to do while on dialysis, pay his bills and keep a medical fund for reoccurring hospital trips & expenses. (The current wait for any type of assistance is November!)

If you know Ivan you know he is a gentle giant with a huge heart, contagious smile, loves to make everyone laugh and is always ready to help anyone. As his Mother, I have no words for how heartbreaking it is to see your child suffer & not be able to take away the pain. At minimum, taking away the financial burden for him will be one less stressor at this time.
