IVF for Baby Prestia

Dear friends and family,
I am writing this on behalf of Amanda and Nick Prestia and asking for your help. When Amanda and Nick got married in March 2020, they had no idea what journey lie ahead for them. Most of you are aware that Amanda was born with Cystic Fibrosis. A year ago, she was able to start Trikafta- a new drug that has significantly improved her life. Thanks to some incredible scientists, she is the healthiest she has ever been. After speaking to her doctors, Amanda and Nick were given the “all clear” to start a family of their own. They were so excited to become parents. 2020 was a challenging year for everyone, but Amanda and Nick were not prepared for the devastating news they received next. They found out that Nick is also a genetic carrier of Cystic Fibrosis. They were heartbroken.
Essentially, there is no safe way for them to conceive naturally to ensure their child won’t be born with Cystic Fibrosis. Their only option is IVF.
IVF is very expensive and unfortunately it is not completely covered by health insurance. The added genetic testing for their specific circumstance is also an extra cost. They have been given an estimate of $5,000 that needs to be paid up front before moving forward. There will be approximately $2,000-$4,000 additionally needed to be paid later in the process.
It is not in Amanda and Nick's nature to burden anyone with financial help. They were unsure if they even wanted to share this deeply personal news, but they are brave enough to ask for help when they need it. As they navigate the medical and emotional journey of this, I wanted to see if we could lend a hand to alleviate some of the financial burden. This journey will be lengthy and costly but if we could help reduce a bit of financial pressure, I know they’ll be forever grateful.
Amanda has always had an uphill battle fighting CF, paying for medications and doctors, learning how to manage life a little differently than everyone else; but this is a part of her life we can help her with!
Amanda and Nick are two wonderful people who will make amazing parents. There are obstacles that all people face along their path to their dreams and for Amanda and Nick, they will need our help to navigate through this. They have worked unbelivably hard at their jobs, to make their house a home and now lets help them complete their family.
Thank you so much from all of us. We appreciate every single one of you.
