Izak Kicks Cancer's Butt!
Donation protected
My 14 year old nephew has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
This is Izak's story...
Izak is in year 9 at school and had been having some stomach pains. His mum has booked a GP appointment for Monday to try and get to the bottom of the issue. Was it school related anxiety? Hormones?
Thursday 26th May 2022
Izak's pain got worse and they presented at the Emergency room. Bloods and urine samples were taken and they were sent home after some monitoring.
An hour later the hospital called and said Izak was severely anaemic.
Friday May 27th 2022
Izak saw his paediatrician who drew more bloods, with results to come on Monday.
Monday May 30th
Izak was feeling awful. He felt like he needed to vomit but couldn't. He then fainted and vomited blood...an image his mum is still having nightmares about
Izak was rushed to hospital for an emergency blood transfusion and then taken into surgery for an endoscopy. A large mass was discovered.
Tuesday May 31st 2022
Izak and his mum Jaymie were flown from their local hospital in Grafton NSW, to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane QLD, by the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
Izak had more bloods taken, as well as X-rays and Ultrasounds.
Wednesday June 1st 2022
Izak was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma. An aggressive group of cancers that attack the immune system and forms in the white blood cells.
Thursday June 2nd 2022
A PET scan was performed and cancer was found in Izak's stomach and also in 2 nodes.
Friday June 3rd 2022
Izak had a PICC line inserted for his treatment. He also had bone marrow taken and a lumbar puncture performed to see if the cancer is anywhere else in his body.
Chemo started.
For at least the next 3 months, Izak and his mum will be in Brisbane while he is receiving treatment. His dad, 8yr old brother and 8month old sister, will be at home in NSW. All money donated will go directly to the family and help in their everyday household expenses, travel expenses for Shannon and the 2 little kids to visit Izak and Jaymie, and wherever else they need to use it.
Any amount will help, so please donate if you can.
