Izi fights for Mohamud’s right to remain

I’ve signed up for a white collar boxing fight on 23rd September and am raising money for the legal fees needed to support the brilliant Mohamud Mumin, who I’ve mentored for the past two years and whose asylum application has been rejected twice. Mohamud was subjected to coercion and threats by the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in Somalia, who sought to recruit him. Mohamud bravely and escaped in 2019 after many of his family members were tragically killed by the organisation. With no living family left in Somalia, Mohamud sought refuge in the UK, where his brother resides. He has since engaged in volunteering activities, pursued English lessons and worked tirelessly to assimilate into the country. And yet, his legitimate claim to remain has been rejected. Mohamud faces being forced to leave and we are now fighting to find the best lawyer to help Mohamud stay in the UK - where his family is and where he feels safe.

I’ll be training intensively for 8 weeks before my fight on Friday 8th December.
