Izzy’s Surgery & Recovery
Donation protected
On Thursday, December 16th, Izzy fell from our third story balcony. She saw a puppy that she wanted to play with (Izzy loves puppies), got excited and climbed the railing, and fell over.
Her femur is shattered and will require surgery or amputation.
She has internal bleeding and they aren’t sure if it’s from the blunt force trauma or a lacerated spleen but they are going to keep an eye on her and decide the next steps, but right now it is looking like they will surgically repaired her femur.
She also has two broken bones in two of her paws.
They gave me the option of euthanizing her or going forward with the possible surgeries, and I of course chose the surgeries to give her a chance at recovering.
I was torn because I didn’t want to put her through any more pain or suffering but when they brought her into the room she lifted her head up and gave me a smile.
Something told me there is more to her story and it’s not finished yet.
We are going to push through and get her back to health.
After she comes home, she is going to need a lot of medication, rehabilitation to learn how to walk, as well as more check ups to make sure everything is healing properly.
I have taken on an extra job to help cover the bills, but the medical costs are estimated upwards of $14,000, which will take me quite a while to get to alone.
Accepting help from others is not one of my strengths, but I’m humbling myself and viewing this as money for Izzy and doing whatever it takes to make sure she’s taken care of and given a chance to recover.
Any extra money that might be raised will be donated to a local animal rescue as I do not want to spend a cent extra than what I need for Izzy.
Any help you are able to give is very much appreciated by Izzy and me.
Thank you again to everyone who has reached out to check on her, and thank you in advance for any loving gift you might send.
