J Giles Elementary School

Hello! We are a group of Sociology students at Ridgewood High School in Norridge, Illinois who are working on a community service project. We have decided that we would like to raise money for J Giles Elementary School.
The J Giles School has been struggling financially for the last few years now. In 2018, the funds were cut to the entire band program and it was only through the incredible hard work of volunteers that enough money was raised through fundraising to keep it intact. There is only a certain amount of money allocated to the band department as part of it's annual budget. This budget provides for the purchase of new music, supplies, contest fees, school-owned instrument repairs, etc. However, the budget really does not allow for the purchase of new larger items such as new instruments. Instruments cost thousands of dollars. Currently, the band teacher is still using instruments that are almost 40 years old. In order to participate in the band program parents of the band students are required to pay a fee for participation in the band. Every student in the band from grades 5 through 8 has to pay a $200.00 fee to participate in the band program.
We are asking for donations to help support the band program at Giles School.
