Taylor's Recovery from Streptococcal Shock

Donation protected
Early Monday morning Megan took Taylor into the emergency room, he was having severe pain in several joints and a high fever. When they got there his blood pressure was 60/40 and doctors quickly realized that he had some kind of serious infection and his organs had begun shutting down. After lots of testing they determined he had streptococcal toxic shock which is a rare condition that can occur after having strep. His body had gone septic, so they immediately started him on multiple antibiotics and medications to help stabilize his blood pressure and return organ function. They anticipated that the joint pain was reactive arthritis and would subside after a few days of medication. Things seemed to be in the right track but on the 5th day, after aspirating and testing fluid from Taylor’s knee, the doctor’s determined that he had septic arthritis. They drained and cleaned his knee on Sunday and are awaiting results of his ankle. He will be on IV medications for 2-3 weeks after leaving the hospital and will require care at home as he isn’t fully mobile. Please help support Taylor and Megan through the next weeks as they focus on his recovery.
