Help My Mama Recover
Donation protected
Hey, friends. As some of you know (and many of you do not yet), my mom, Robin Yurán, has fallen quite ill. Though she was managing alright over the past year since her last hospital stay, she slipped quickly downhill mid-summer. She could not eat, she could hardly walk, and she became extremely frail.
Five weeks ago, I checked her into Griffin Hospital in Derby. She received treatment for severe dehydration, malnutrition, and vitamin deficiency. After five days, she was transferred to a rehab facility in Middletown in hopes of receiving regular physical therapy to regain her strength. Unfortunately, she was neglected there, and soon suffered infection and delirium that went untreated for over a week.
After days of phone calls, pleading, and battling, the doctor that was treating her at the facility finally decided to send her back to Griffin. There, she was treated beautifully; I cannot recommend that hospital enough, should you ever need one (though I pray you do not). Still, her delirium remains, as does her weakness. She is now in a new rehab facility, and we're back where we started--physical therapy will begin soon, but she has a long road to recovery.
Here's what we're facing: hospital bills, ambulance bills, outpatient bills, the cost of her stay at the new facility (though I am trying to get her covered through Medicaid), and bills that pile up at home because her Social Security, her only income, is currently being withheld until January due to an error. My dad's Social Security check is not enough to cover all of these needs, nor is my own income, as I live paycheck to paycheck. My dad is unable to work, as many of you know, because of his hearing loss and weak physical ability.
We are in desperate need of your help, now more than ever. Any attention to this fundraiser means more than I can articulate, whether you donate, share, or send love our way. Thank you!
