The Vagina Museum’s 2024 exhibitions

Thanks to you, the Vagina Museum is open to the world again. In the new year, we have some quim-credible plans. Your donations in this festive season will help the Vagina Museum to mount exhibitions within our temporary gallery and our brand new community gallery. Here’s some of what we have planned.

Community gallery

Our future community gallery is a brand new endeavour. This small gallery space will be used to display works from artists, patient groups and community groups who are working on projects relating to activism, bodies, feminism and LGBTQ+ narratives. Our first exhibition, Herstory by Malikah Holder, will open in early 2024.

We have a programme of exhibitions planned for the gallery space, and we’re going to apply for grant funding to allow us to give this space to the voices who need it most. However, many potential grant funders require organisations to provide match funding before supporting a cause - and all potential grant funders like to see demand for a project. In donating to this appeal you’re showing the public appetite for a gallery space dedicated to bold work by creators that may not otherwise be displayed.

Museum of Mankind
In April 4654, while doing some gardening, Guy Manson came upon a collection of ancient 21st century objects in the soil. He sought the expertise of the curators at the Museum of Mankind in interpreting this trove of Plastic Age objects from the ancient city of London.

This exhibition is not funded by [large unethical corporation funding museum exhibitions redacted], surprisingly.

Our next temporary exhibition, opening in March 2024, takes you on a trip into the future with this parody exhibition highlighting sexism and biases in history, heritage and the museum industry. The Museum of Mankind juxtaposes familiar objects with interpretation that seems absurd - until you realise that this, too, is a familiar narrative about the past. This exhibition first popped up at the Science Museum in 2019, and will be resident at the Vagina Museum for six months.

What else?
As well as all of this, we’ll be reopening our permanent exhibition, From A to V and holding a programme of fanny-tastic events to suit every taste.

Your donation to this appeal enables the Vagina Museum to thrive as we fit out and open our exhibitions, continue to bring you educational and empowering events, and beaver away behind the scenes to make sure we bring you the best Vagina Museum possible. We’re excited for you to join us in this next step of our journey.
