Chloe’s Road to Recovery

Chloe, our best friend’s sweet dog, recently experienced a health crisis and we’ve put together this to try to help work towards her recovery and support her parents by taking some of the burden away.

While out for a walk, Chloe lost use of her right leg within 20 minutes, followed by the left leg becoming paralyzed within 12 hours. As a result, she’s also experiencing bladder and bowel incontinence. During the initial vet visit they assumed FCE and gave no treatment options but to refer Chloe for an MRI in PEI to get a diagnosis. Unfortunately, Chloe can’t be seen for the MRI until the summer so she went for a CT scan in New Brunswick to rule out other things. The New Brunswick vet was able to rule out any spinal injuries like IVDD and confirmed it was likely only to be FCE. It was told that Chloe’s nerves in her back half were completely dead, that she would likely not get any movement and should be euthanized.

Chloe’s family turned to social media and word of mouth, where they learned of various success stories about recovery. With new found hope, they knew that they had to give Chloe a solid shot at recovery.

 

Chloe is now going to rehab in Enfield at Furability two times a week and acupuncture in Wolfville at Flourishing QI once a week for now. She is on medication for sleeping and anxiety as well as Chinese medicine. Chloe currently has a help me up harness which has assisted with her being able to take little walks while she tries to recover. She requires 24/7 care that her parents have been providing.

 

We are hoping to take some of the financial burden away from her family. The cost of Chloe’s care continues to grow, from previous and future appointments to getting her set up in a wheelchair. If you are able to help sweet Chlo Chlo, every little amount means so much to us all.

Chloe has the heart of her parents and this has had an immense impact on her family. She is the sweetest, silliest girl and she deserves a shot at any kind of improvements. Any support you can give will go a long way in Chloe’s healing.
