Help For A New Start

Donations will be used to help Bobby with living expenses like securing housing, transportation, clothing, food, phone, essentials for getting back on his feet (starting over), and restitution.

Hi, my name is Judy Caldwell. Many of you may know me as Mama C. For those of you who don't know, my son, Robert Caldwell (Bobby), is in prison. Over the last decade, in a place that offers no meaningful help, Bobby has managed to not only heal but to grow beyond belief. In an attempt to shed light on the issues of mental health, addiction, and American incarceration, he decided to share his story in real-time, with honesty and humor, in the hopes of honoring those affected by these issues. Bobby has dedicated himself to the task of representing the underrepresented by any means necessary, warts and all. 

During Bobby’s incarceration, he has engaged in many proactive efforts to better himself. Some of those efforts include college enrollment, where he maintains his spot on the Dean's list; recording regular podcast episodes; and most recently, being chosen to join Pen America's Inaugural IWB Program. One of the most important things Bobby has been able to do is help new inmates navigate the pitfalls of prison, as well as, provide mentorship both inside and outside of those walls. 

Thank God we're finally nearing the end of this monumental struggle. Our current goal is to help Bobby re-enter society upon release. Unfortunately, even with all the work he's put in, the current system does very little to assist inmates in the way of post-prison stability. The hard truth is that when Bobby is released, he'll have nothing. No house, no car, no clothes, no food, no phone, not even the basic toiletries necessary for survival. He'll have nothing.

My husband and I have worked our entire lives, most of which was spent serving in the military, and as many families can relate, we are simply not in a position to provide Bobby with the assistance he'll need to have a meaningful chance upon release. We will certainly do everything in our power, but could use your support. For those who have gotten to know our son over the years, whether through his writings, the podcast, or his advocates, you know who Bobby is, the nature of his heart, and the mission he has undertaken to advocate for those suffering similar circumstances. He is a good person with a resilient spirit that has survived some of the most crushing circumstances and yet, somehow still radiates hope with love, compassion and honesty. If you could find it in your heart, we are humbly asking for your help to give him the chance he needs, and ultimately deserves, to rebuild his life. SO PLEASE JOIN OUR CAUSE.
