Support DeIsha Draper's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Hi WEAVE friends and family,
As you know, DeIsha Draper, our apprentice intern instructor, has been fighting an illness since December of last year. With her permission, we want to share an update on her journey and how we can support her.
In December 2024, a cancerous mass was discovered and removed during the week of our Christmas Spectacular performance. Despite initial hopes, signs of regrowth appeared about two months ago.
DeIsha has completed two rounds of chemotherapy. Although she is showing signs of improvement, her battle continues with ups and downs, including a recent four-day hospital stay. Her doctor, and our faith in Jesus Christ, lead us to believe that she will recover and live a normal, healthy life after treatment.
Due to her energy levels, DeIsha had to give up her third-shift job as well as her job/internship at Weave. To help with her expenses, we are providing her with weekly payments, which will also assist her in qualifying for charitable assistance to cover her treatments since she currently does not have insurance.
We are asking the WEAVE community to help fund this financial aid, supporting her basic needs and, hopefully, helping her acquire a car by the summer. You can donate to her GoFundMe here. These funds will go towards her immediate weekly financial needs and towards the purchase of a car.
Additionally, if you or someone you know has a used, reliable car that you would be willing to sell at a discount or even donate, please let us know, as a significant portion of DeIsha's expenses currently goes to Uber. She is actively working on obtaining her license, and we are supporting her in this process.
We realize that people have different levels of giving availability, and yes, we are asking for some sacrificial giving. If you are able to give $25 this week, and $25 next week (on your next pay period - for example) - then that is how you can give $50, or $100, etc. You do not have to give just once. Any and all donations will be helpful.
We are sharing this information with Dee's permission, and we want to emphasize that the specific type of cancer she has or any other personal details about her condition are private. When you see her, please refrain from asking personal questions. Asking how she feels or if she needs anything are the only questions she needs. For other inquiries, please direct them to us. She needs only positive and caring encouragement. Questions about her levels or the current status of her cancer are strictly forbidden to protect her mental wellbeing. Of course, if she chooses to share information without being prompted, that is her decision.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Warmly,
Travis & Bernadette
