U.S. National Kendo Team - 19th WKC

Both your support and words of encouragement means the world to us, and we will continue to work hard as one team to achieve our goal of bringing home gold at the 19th World Kendo Championships (WKC).

The U.S. National Kendo Team (Team USA) has been training every day to prepare for the 19th World Kendo Championships, to be held in Milan, Italy on July 4-7, 2024.

Team USA has consistently placed in the Top 3 in the World for the past 20 years, despite the fact that our Team USA members are all amateur athletes that must balance work and school obligations with their responsibilities to train and polish their skills as a Team USA representative. In fact, Team USA remains the ONLY team in the World to have ever defeated Japan since international competition was introduced in 1970.

In addition to trainings during their week locally, and weekend training camps that may require domestic travel, Team USA must also travel to Japan, Korea and Europe to train with the best in the world in order to ensure they are ready for the tough competition that awaits them at the 19WKC. All of these activities impose a significant financial burden on each of the members of Team USA. While the All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF) has strongly and unwaveringly supported Team USA over the past many years, the budget allocated to Team USA inevitably cannot cover all of the expenses related to a multi-year training endeavor for Team USA.

THIS TIME, for the first time ever, Team USA has selected 9 JUNIOR USA members that represent the next generation of Team USA!! We would very much like to take as many of these members to the 19th WKC as well!

We have started this GoFundMe effort to raise money to support Team USA for the 19th World Kendo Championships, and any donation will make an impact!! The funds will be used to support Team USA activities, including expenses related to travel, training and other Team USA related activities, as well as kendo and training equipment for Team USA.
