Hope Renewed: Battle Against Bone Marrow Cancer

Donation protected
Hello friends. I have set this fundraiser up for a very dear friend Denise.

My name is Dan Counihan, and today, I’m reaching out to you with a deeply personal plea for help.

At the hospital, they call her the "Goodness of God Girl" because every day, she listens to "Goodness of God" by Cece Winans, finding solace and strength in its lyrics.

Since August 2023, our dear sister, Denise, has been in the throes of an intense battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an aggressive blood cancer associated with a myriad of challenges. Despite the daunting odds, she stands as a beacon of resilience, embodying the spirit of perseverance.

This is her second bout with cancer in just two years, a journey marked by relentless hospital stays and medical procedures. As a West Indian, she had limited access to bone marrow donors, and counts herself among the fortunate few who have found a match. Yet, the road to recovery is fraught with financial strain.

Since August, she has endured over 21/22 weeks in the hospital, navigating the complexities of treatment and recovery. As a single woman living alone, she faces mounting living expenses, compounded by the need to fly friends and family from out of state to support her. The loss of her car in an accident earlier this year has only exacerbated the situation, forcing her to rely on costly Uber & Lyft transportation alternatives.

Now, as the new year unfolds, she finds herself burdened with mounting medical bills, living expenses, and dwindling financial resources. Despite her efforts to secure assistance, she remains ineligible for support from existing programs, leaving her in a precarious financial situation.

That’s why Sister Denise is humbly seeking assistance to cover her living expenses through the end of the year—rent, transportation, utilities, medical bills, credit card debt, student loans, and daily essentials, etc. Your generosity can provide her with the stability and support she desperately needs as she continues her fight against cancer.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would be a beacon of hope in her darkest hour. Thank you for considering our sister's plight and for your unwavering compassion. Together, we can make a difference in her journey toward healing.
