Support for Darlene's Family After Tragic Loss
Donation protected
Hello my name is Jennifer Smith and I met Darlene Nkanta in 1996 when I worked for the registry as a registered nurse. She is a certified nursing assistant, and excellent with people especially seniors. Darlene works two jobs to take care of her son, Josh and her mother who lives in Belize. On September 14th, Darlene checked her mother on her flight and was so happy that she was coming to the US for a medical check up and to celebrate her birthday, September 15th. She later learned that her mother was not on the flight so she thought that she missed it. Hours of telephone calls were not answered as Darlene grew anxious. After about six or more hours, Darlene's brother called her with the message she never thought possible. Her mother, Melva Myers (62 years old) her sister Tiffany Licona and three minors were involved in an accident. Ms Myers was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead. Tiffany has a broken rib, and her L arm is broken in three places. The three children escaped with non-life threatening injuries. Tiffany was supposed to have surgery on Saturday but because Darlene could not raise the money for her surgery, the hospital will not perform the surgery until the money was delivered. Darlene was able to send the money today, September 16th, and the surgery was performed today. I am creating this GoFundMe page to help Darlene give her mom a decent funeral and assist her sister with rehabilitation.
We are uncertain of the extent of the medical bills of her sister, Ms Licona and burial is about $8,000. The love Darlene has for her mother makes it so difficult for her to eat, sleep or think. Our sincere help for this family is imminent to get through the grieve and since it falls on Darlene to handle this burden, without the resources this will be almost impossible. Any help, no matter how small will be appreciated for this family in mourning for a mother that has been a light to her community. We learned that Ms Myers was a great help to her community and will give what she can afford. Let's return that same gift of hope and light to help her family get through this difficult time.
