I'm being sued!

Hi,

You might know me from being an idiot and making jokes about politics on Twitter.

One of my jokes was about Brendan Clarke-Smith, a Tory MP, and was (entirely unintentionally) based on false information. I've apologised and deleted the tweet, but there's more to do. I don't blame him, but it's still a pain - he's asking for damages as well.

So no, I'm not technically being sued, but I will be if I don't pay £5000 plus £1500 costs in the next 7 days.

And I don't have it. Or even close.

So if you feel like helping me, I'd be delighted.

In the event Brendan Clarke-Smith decides to withdraw his claim for damages, I'll give any money from this to the Trussel Trust (foodbank charity), and obviously I'll do the same if I happen to raise more than I need.

I feel quite foolish for not checking my facts before tweeting, which is not like me AT ALL.

And I feel VERY foolish for having to ask for help. But that's where we are.
