I’m fundraising for the Miller Family, The Miller family has suffered an unbearable loss. Karl Miller (37yrs), beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on 08/07/2022. Through his years of military service and his active involvement in his church and community, Karl has touched many lives. Karl and devotion to his family were immeasurable. Please help us to raise funds to help support Karl’s family through this unbelievably difficult time.
Was called to rest surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Cherished son of Ernest and Karen Miller, Beloved husband of Rebecca Miller (nee Fuentes), Loving and Adoring father of Mason and Mikayla. Loving brother of Carrie Miller, Joe Rodaks, Diana (Len) Brickett. Loving uncle of Kobe (Angelina), Matthew, Adalynn, Amanda (Drew), Austin (Ashley), Blake and Alex. Loving son-in-law of Tracy Hollander, loving brother-in-law of Paul, Melissa, Raymond and Laura Fuentes. Karl was preceded in death by his beloved brother Shawn Hoppe, and his nephew Colton Rodaks. Also preceded by his grand-parents Francis and Lida Miller, Jerome and Dorothy Uttke. Karl is further survived and loved by very many friends, fellow soldiers, and acquaintances.
As a child, Karl was affectionately nick-named “Tiger” by his father. This name has stuck with him throughout the years, with the typical greeting between father and son being, “Hey Tiger” and his reply, “Hey Pop”.
Karl enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard three months before his high school graduation. Karl’s love of the military led to his serving two tours of duty in Iraq and becoming a full-time active-duty member of the National Guard ever since.
Karl enjoyed a challenge and working with his hands, particularly with building and remodeling projects at home. With about four years left before his military retirement, his plan was to expand his knowledge in these areas to enter the next phase of his life and continue his growth while securing his family’s future.
Karl married the love of his life Becky on January 1st, 2009. As a husband, Karl really was a special man who truly completely loved and adored his wife. Giving her a “birthday week” each year with daily presents, making her coffee in the morning, and paying attention to the “little things and the big things” that made her happy. He always told her how much he loved her.
As a father, Karl truly enjoyed the time he spent with his children. Whether fishing at the pond with his kids, dressing up at Halloween, or taking them to ride the ATV. Karl bought the ATV for Mason and also surprised him with a car that he could drive once he gets his driver’s license. These were all were sources of happiness for Karl. Even the day-to-day trips to soccer or football practices were special. He loved putting Mikayla to bed and sleeping with her to assure her peaceful slumber. Karl loved taking them to Brewer’s games or bowling and equally loved taking them to church on Sunday.
A special bond exists between Karl and his older but smaller sister Carrie. Karl took care of Carrie. Whether it be a mouse in her kitchen or meeting up for a late-night beer and chat, they were there for each other. As adults sitting in either of their kitchens, you would never know what shenanigans may erupt. These shenanigans were further enhanced by his wife Becky, who was a child-hood friend of Carrie’s since their early teens. Carrie and Becky have been there for each other for the last 26 years and will continue to be each other’s rock and keep our families bond strong just like Karl always has.
Karl always put his family first and was extremely devoted to his parents. Karl would clean the kitchen after meals with his Mom and always greeted her with a kiss “Hi Mama”. He made sure to hold her jacket and purse and follow her around to keep her safe, on their many casino trips. Karl was always moving something around for his Dad. Whether this was a desk, a bookshelf or an entire office. They would meet for a beer or sit on the couch at home to talk and watch baseball. They had a special bond that will not be able to be replaced or replicated.
Courageous and dedicated, tireless and generous with a wonderful and infectious sense of humor, a true source of our joy and life has been taken. The joys Karl brought to us all will remain forever.
As an indication of his truly selfless nature, Karl’s final act was the donation of his organs to allow others to be able to continue with their lives. Not only will someone live because of Karl’s goodness, but one special individual will have truly received a “heart of gold”.
The family of Karl would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and other staff of the Waukesha Memorial (ProHealth) Hospital Intensive Care Unit. They deserve our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the hard work, empathy, compassion and love they extended to Karl and his family.
