Hey everyone, my name is Daniel Pair. I was just released from the hospital after 28 days. Let me give you some more details about my month. I was found June 30th unresponsive at my sisters house. My brother called 911 and I was rushed to the hospital. I was already incubated before my family could get to the hospital.
After 2 days of getting worse the doctor called my sister Ashley my Power of Attorney and executor of my living will about my last wishes because he felt I wouldn’t make it through the night. So all my family comes that night to see me and prayed for a miracle. Well, I made it through the night….. and note the doctors at this point still have no idea why antibiotics are not working. It wasn’t until two nurses Page and Nikki had a life-saving idea of turning me over into the prone position and beating, literally beating the infection out of my lungs. I will never ever be able to thank them enough (best beating I ever got in my life.)
I stayed heavily sedated for 16 more days while my body fought off the infection until I finally was able to come to. I was moved from ICU to intermediate care where I stayed a few days until they were able to take out the feeding tube and pull me off high flow oxygen. I was then moved to the 3rd floor to start lung therapy (pneumonia and being stuck in a bed for 26 days will really mess up your lungs). All went well and was finally released Tuesday afternoon.
Now for the worst part of this whole ordeal, I have already missed a month of work and will not be able to return to my job until I have completed my oxygen therapy (rough estimate a month) and I’m not sure how I’m gonna make it until then.
I’m not sure why god gave me a second chance but obviously there is something on this earthly world that I haven’t finished yet. I’m gonna keep fighting and I’m gonna figure out what it is, I just need a little help getting there.
