Help Matthew Pay His Medical Bills and Expenses

Hello everyone. My name is Sophia and Matthew is my boyfriend. Last Thursday Matthew noticed that he was struggling to breathe. He had thought it was just the flu but it was getting more and more intense. I decided that I needed to rush home from work and take Matthew to the hospital immediately after he told me he thought he might be dying. When we got to the emergency room the doctor noticed his heart rate was 150 beats per minute. It is only supposed to be between 50-70. They decided they needed to run a bunch of different tests including blood work, a CT scan, an ultrasound, and an x-ray as they couldn't figure out why a healthy 21 year was struggling to breathe so badly after only being sick for 24 hours. After rulling out covid, the results from some of his other tests came back. The doctors saw from his x-rays that both of his lungs were full of liquid. The blood work showed that he had pnemonia in both his lungs, a bacterial infection in both lungs, the rhinovirus, and was developing sepsis. Even still, they couldn't understand why rhinovirus which is typically nothing more than the common flu could make him that sick that quickly. After hours of trying to get Matthews heart rate down, it reached almost 200 beats per minute. At this point I could literally see his heart beating out of his chest, and I feared for his life. The doctors decided they would have to put him in a medically induced coma and put him on a ventilator to keep him breathing. This all happened in a span of only 8 hours. After deciding that's what was best for him, the doctors put him under and it wasn't until Monday that Matthew was fully conscious and able to have the ventilator removed. He will remain in the hospital for a few more days as he fully recovers. Matthew is a full time student who also works full time and completely supports himself. He has been fully financially supporting himself since 17 years old. He works an extremely hard and labor intensive job that puts a lot of strain on him physically. He only does this because it can pay his bills. Therefore, Matthew will most likely need time to recover before he can return to work even after coming home from the hospital. Put simply, Matthew is one of those people who fall under the poverty line in all other situations but for assistance. He only makes a few thousand dollars a year, but this is still somehow considered too wealthy to receive help with his hospital bills. All the money from this fundraiser would be going to help Matthew pay his hospital bills and his living expenses until he can get back on his feet and back to work. Anything helps and we are both extremely grateful. Thank you.
