HERCULES KITTY needs eyelids
Donation protected
HERCULES was born with a rare deformity called "eyelid agenesis", which means that he has no eyelids. Without eyelids , he cannot clean the debris from his eyes, keep them moist, or keep the hairs from scratching his eyeballs. Our rescue group BLESSED CREATURES, acquired him when he was just a couple of months old from someone who left him at our adoption event in a box with a plastic bag over his head. We know nothing about his family or where he came from.
Right away, we had our regular vet examine him and he prescribed moisturizing eyedrops 3 times a day to keep his eyes moist and free from debris. He appears to see clearly and is healthy and beyond playful, although the hairs are scratching his eyeballs and he cannot completely close his eyes when he sleeps.
We knew he would need a professional diagnosis and probably surgery to correct his deformity and protect his sight. I am happy to report that with your help , we received funding of $200 to take him to an eye specialist, and now are ready to take the next step with HERCULES. He is 5-6 months old, and has matured enough to have surgery to restore eyelids and save his vision. At this point in time, there is already scarring on his eyes , and without the surgery he will eventually go blind from the constant irritation, debris, and dryness. The eye specialist has recommended 2 surgical procedures. One where they will create eyelids from part of his lips. And another more preferable version , where they will move the lower lids to the top of his eyes. Both procedures will need to be done in stages, and the surgeries will be quite expensive.
Even though BLESSED CREATURES is a 501C3, we are a small group and only have enough in donations to cover basic costs of preparing rescued kitties for adoption. Any other vet costs come out of our pockets. We cannot afford this surgery and need your help. We would like to give HERCULES as normal a life as possible. He is adorable and very adoptable , and deserves a loving home beyond foster care. Would you like to become one of HERCULES' sponsors? Your donation is tax deductible. Please contact me with your questions or suggestions to help our fundraising effort. Thank you!
